you got the gun advocates who will point at their constitutional
right to bear arms..
however, the reason for that has long died.. the constitutional
right to bear arms for the US is that if the government becomes
despotic and uses their army against the people or the government
doesn't speak for the people anymore, the people can, with the
force of their arms, remove the government by force...
that is the reason for the right to bear arms...
but in today's context, AK47s and 9mm Glocks are useless against
the army's M1 Abrams...
the reason for bearing arms is gone.. long gone.. but has been
twisted by the NRA into today's gun culture of the US..
somewhere along theline too, they forgot one of the pillars of
their freedom.. Freedom From Fear... as i wrote the other day, the
freedom from fear as articulated by Franklin D Roosevelt:
The fourth is freedom from fear, which, translated into world
terms, means a world-wide
reduction of armaments to such a point and in such a thorough
fashion that no nation will be in a position to commit an act of
physical aggression against any neighbor anywhere in the
world.
now... are the NRA nutters and the gun advocates betraying their
very pillar of freedom?
